This concise text, developed for classes with shorter hour requirements, is accessible for students of all levels. Richly illustrated step-by-step procedures teach students how to perform the tasks required of nursing assistants and prepare them to pass the certification competency examination. The text and its supplements include abundant reinforcement activities and practice questions for the certification competency examination, challenging students to apply what they have learned and preparing them for success when taking the exam. Detailed photographs, illustrations, and videos bring concepts to life, helping students visualize and understand body positions, care procedures, and the structure of the human body.
  • Mini Glossaries and Applying the Key Terms facilitates student comprehension and understanding of complex terminology.
  • A full chapter on Appreciating Diversity and numerous Culture Cues throughout the text prompt students to examine cultural considerations for improved care.
  • Scaffolded review questions at the end of each section reinforce material and provide opportunities for critical thinking and application, while giving instructors a chance to assess student understanding.
  • Practice test questions at the end of each chapter mimic the types of questions asked on the written portion of the certification competency exam.
  • Instructional videos demonstrate procedures and enable students to visually experience the application of these skills.
  • Teacher-created activities in the supplemental Study Guide help students recall and expand on the concepts presented in the text.
  • The Quick Reference Guide included in the text is a 2-sided, laminated document that provides a concise, easy-to-use reference of key information students need on a regular basis.
