Title Overview

The Infant and Toddler Years: Foundations for Reflective Practiceblends theory, research, and practical applications to provide students with the tools they need to be successful infant and toddler educators. While providing information on child development at these critical stages, the authors emphasize the importance of looking at infants and toddlers in isolation to understand that what is done in the first three years builds the foundation for all subsequent learning. This new title also has a unique focus on brain development, trauma-attuned practice, and how to build partnerships with families. The textbook includes a chapter on children with exceptionalities and SPED topics have been woven throughout the entire textbook. The authors bring early childhood concepts and foundational knowledge alive with many scenarios and other real-world applications that will prepare students for their roles as early childhood educators. This textbook also asks students to examine and reflect on their own values, beliefs, and attitudes about child development and care. Mapped to current NAEYC standards and guidelines, the textbook features NAEYC, DAP, and Code of Ethics callouts at the beginning of each chapter, and full correlations are available in the Online Instructor Resources.
