Essential Health is the most up-to-date, skills-based text available for high school health and wellness classes. With its engaging writing and numerous supporting activities, this text presents the study of health and wellness as a dynamic discussion, relevant to students' lives. In addition to the standard topics, the text contains in-depth coverage of sleep, body image, and health across the lifespan. Content and skills are aligned to the National Health Education Standards.
  • Examples of up-to-date coverage not found in other texts include discussions of e-cigarettes, substance abuse in the context of changing laws, cyber-bullying, and other online safety issues.
  • Extensive instructor's resources, including videos, lesson plans, worksheets, and assessments, save time and help to create the most appropriate lessons for the classroom.
  • Award-winning health teachers created an abundance of classroom-tested activities to engage students as they study key concepts.
An English/Spanish glossary (available in the Text and Companion Website) and English/Spanish e-flash cards (available on the Companion Website) improve comprehension for English Language Learners.
