Karen Zimmerman, Ph.D. - is a writer and consultant on Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) educational materials, applying the expertise she gained in over 30 year's experience at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. There she served as department head and supervised faculty in the areas of early childhood, child and family studies, and FCS education. Karen also taught classes in these areas, supervised student teachers, and served as graduate program director of Early Childhood and FCS Education.

The Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences, Young Children, Child Care Center, and Family and Consumer Sciences Education Yearbook, are some of the noted publications that have published Karen's articles. She also served as a reviewer of articles for Early Childhood News.

Karen has been a guest speaker at many local, state, and national conferences. She received the national leadership award from the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. Her other professional affiliations have included the National Association for the Education of Young Children, Association for Career and Technical Education, and National Council on Family Relations.
