About the Author(s)

Patricia G. Ross, Ph. D. - taught family and consumer sciences courses for 12 years at the middle and high school levels. She also developed curriculum materials for numerous courses. Patricia is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, the Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers Association of Texas, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and Phi Delta Kappa. Her awards include the Outstanding Young Professional award from the University of Texas at Austin and the Excellence in the Teaching of Private Enterprise award from the Texas Association of Business and the Baylor University Center for Private Enterprise. Patricia is the president of Ross Creations, Inc., a company that publishes family and consumer sciences instructional materials.

Jodi Owens-Kristenson - is currently a teacher at Fairmont Middle School. She is a member of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and has held several offices, including State Board Member and Secretary, in the Minnesota Association of Middle Level Educators. Jodi has given presentations on such subjects as stress management and people skills. Her curriculum Life Skills won the 1993 Healthy Lifestyles award. She has also won the Minnesota Young Achiever award and the Minnesota Young Career Woman award.
