About the Author(s)

Brian Hutchison, PhD., LPC - is core faculty in the School of Counseling at Walden University. Dr. Hutchison received his doctorate and master degrees from Pennsylvania State University and his bachelor degree from Lock Haven University. In education, Hutchison has worked as a teacher, administrator, and counselor as well as a career and mental health counselor. His focus has always been helping students and adults find a career that interests them while helping build a better life.

Grace Wambu, EdD, LAC, NCC - is an associate professor of counseling in the Department of Counselor Education at New Jersey City University. She obtained her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from Northern Illinois University. She also obtained a certificate of Graduate Study in Career Development. Wambu began her career as a high school teacher and school counselor and currently is a counselor educator. She has taught several courses including career counseling and development, school counseling courses, practicum, and internship. Wambu’s research interests and passion include career development and decision making among the youth, multicultural counseling, and international counseling.

Katheryne T. Leigh-Osroosh, Ph.D., NCC - is an assistant professor of school counseling at San Diego State University. Leigh-Osroosh received her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from University of Missouri-St. Louis. She is also a certified school counselor in New York State. Her experience in K-12 education extends from preschool to 12th grade, serving in positions including assistant teacher, direct support professional, and elementary school counselor. As a faculty member, she has taught courses in theory, clinical skills, human development, and learning and instruction. Her scholarship explores Native/Indigenous experiences of education, critical theory, and career development.

Joseph J. Littrell, EdD. - the original author of this text, taught industrial and vocational education to teachers-in-training at Arizona State University. Littrell began his career teaching industrial education in Nebraska and Oregon public schools. Later he taught engineering at the University of Missouri. He earned degrees from Peru State College in Nebraska, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Missouri.

James H. Lorenz, Ed.D. - is professor emeritus and chair of the department of engineering technology and industrial studies at Middle Tennessee State University. He has taught graduate and undergraduate teacher certification courses and undergraduate drafting courses for over 25 years. Lorenz conducts numerous in-service training programs for teachers and has directed SkillsUSA activities at district and state levels. He began his career teaching drafting and graphic arts at the secondary level. Lorenz holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Georgia.

Harry T. Smith, Ed.D. - is professor of curriculum and instruction at Tennessee Technological University where he has served as program supervisor of industrial education since 1986. Smith's primary responsibility is teaching instructional media technology and occupational education licensure courses to undergraduate and graduate students in the college of education. Earlier, Smith taught industrial education at the secondary level in Missouri and the postsecondary level in Missouri and Michigan. Smith holds degrees from Northeast Missouri State, Central Missouri State, and Michigan State Universities.
