About the Author(s)

Eugene Silberstein - Eugene Silberstein, M.S., CMHE, BEAP, entered the HVACR industry in 1980. He is currently the Director of Technical Education and Standards at the ESCO Institute since retiring from his tenured professorship position at Suffolk County Community College in 2015. Eugene earned his Bachelor’s degree from The City College of New York and his Masters of Science in Energy and Environmental Systems from Stony Brook University.

Eugene brings twenty-five years of experience teaching air conditioning and refrigeration at several secondary, post-secondary, and vocational institutions. While teaching, he was selected as one of the top three HVACR instructors in the country for the 2005, 2006, and 2007 academic school years by the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) and the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration (ACHR) News. Eugene earned his Certified Master HVACR Educator (CMHE) credential from HVAC Excellence and the ESCO Group, as well as ASHRAE’s BEAP credential, which classifies him as a Building Energy Assessment Professional. Eugene continues to serve as a subject matter expert as an author and co-author of numerous HVAC textbooks and workbooks.
