FAQs › What is a Common Cartridge?

A Common Cartridge® is a package of learning content and resources that meets IMS specifications.

IMS specifications provide a framework for educational content providers to enable the exchange of content between various tools, systems, and platforms.

Common Cartridges® by G-W contain full G-W course content (textbook, workbook, assessments, and instructor resources). Cartridges can be uploaded into a wide variety of Learning Management System (LMS) platforms, allowing schools to implement G-W content within their preexisting LMS.

Common Cartridges® by G-W utilize Learning Tool Interoperability® (LTI®) links to provide access to G-W content. (For more information, see “What is LTI®?”)
