FAQ list > How do I create an Assignment?

Select Turn editing on in the upper-right corner.
Navigate to the section of the Course Outline where you want to add the Assignment.
Select the Add an activity or resource link.
Select Assignment from the left-hand column.
Select Add.
Enter an Assignment name that is relevant to the Assignment you will be posting.
Use the text editor to write a Description of the assignment. Select Show editing tools to view full text editor tools.
Select the Display description on course page if you would like the assignment description to display on the Course Outline.
If you would like to provide any Additional files for use in the assignment (examples, grading information, etc), drag and drop the file(s) into the space provided. Alternately, select the Add icon to browse for the file(s).
The Allow submissions from date determines how soon students can begin submitting their work.
Selecting a Due date will set the date the assignment must be turned in by for full credit. Assignments submitted after this date will be marked as late.
Selecting a Cut-off date prevents students from submitting the assignment after this date. (Note: you must first check the Enable box to set the cut-off date.)
Use the check-boxes to determine student Submission types for the assignment.
Add a Word limit if you would like to impose this restriction. (Note: This is only applicable to the Online text submission type. You must first check the Enable box to set a word limit.)
Adjust the Maximum number of uploaded files if you would like students to be able to submit more than one file.
Adjust the Maximum submission size if you would like to restrict the size of files students are allowed to submit.
If you have selected File submissions as a submission type, you may specify which types of files will be accepted in the Accepted file types setting.
Adjust other settings as desired:
Adjust Feedback types if you intend to use an Offline grading worksheet or Feedback files as opposed to standard Feedback comments.
Adjust Submission settings if you would like to require that students click a submit button, require that students accept a submission statement, or adjust whether or not students may resubmit further attempts at completing the assignment.
Adjust Notifications settings if you would like the system to notify graders when students submit files.
Adjust the Grade settings to determine how the activity is graded and to select a gradebook location for the Assignment. You may also set a specific grade students must achieve to pass this activity.
Select Save and display to view your Assignment.
