About the Author(s)

R. Jack Jones - is an Associate Professor of Building Construction at Alfred State College of Technology, a State University of New York institution, where he teaches courses in carpentry, blueprint reading, and construction safety. Mr. Jones serves as the Chair of the Building Trades Department, overseeing one of the finest teams of construction faculty in higher education. He has over 25 years of experience working in the construction industry as a carpenter, general contractor, and educator. He has been a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America and has experience in both commercial and residential construction. Mr. Jones earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration through Mansfield University of Pennsylvania and serves as an Outreach Trainer for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. He is an honorary member of The National Society of Leadership and Success, where he received the Excellence in Teaching Award. Additionally, Mr. Jones is a member of the Rochester Builder’s Exchange, and has been designated as a Certified Installer by the Vinyl Siding Institute.

Willis H. Wagner - was Professor Emeritus for the Department of Industrial Technology at Iowa State University. Mr. Wagner earned a bachelor of science degree from Central Missouri State University and a master of science degree from the University of Missouri. He worked in industry as a drafter and woodworker, and taught at the high school and collegiate levels. Mr. Wagner was a member of IAITA and ITEEA, and an honorary member of the Waterloo Technical Society.

Howard "Bud" Smith - spent most of his career as a magazine and textbook editor. He also worked as a carpenter for several years while earning a PhD in journalism from Marquette University. Mr. Smith has published articles in a variety of magazines over his career. He is currently retired.

Mark W. Huth - First edition author Mark W. Huth brought a great deal of relevant experience from multiple perspectives. He served seven years in the US Navy as an aviation machinist’s mate, where he was recognized for proficiency in his craft. Following the Navy, he received a baccalaureate degree from the State University of New York at Oswego. Mr. Huth taught high school for several years before beginning a career in educational publishing. His publishing career provided him the opportunity to work with some of the most successful teachers across North America. Mr. Huth authored many career and technical education titles, as well as successful textbooks on math topics.
