Some users have received a Windows Security pop-up prompting for their user name and password when trying to access Microsoft Word documents or presentations in PowerPoint format. This prompt happens when a user has the Windows 7 operating system, Microsoft Office 2007, and Internet Explorer 8. To avoid receiving this pop-up, use the steps below to save the file to your computer, network drive, or removable media device.
Right-click the link for the Microsoft Word document or presentation in PowerPoint format you would like to download.
Select Save Target As.
Navigate to and select the location you would like to save the file to.
Select Save Target As (Internet Explorer) or Save Link As (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox).
The document or presentation will download to the selected location.
Note: If you prefer to open the file, selecting the Cancel button when you receive the Windows Security pop-up will automatically open the file.
