FAQ list > How do I view PPS/PPT/PPTX files using Apache OpenOffice?

Once Apache OpenOffice has been successfully installed, you will be able to view Presentations for PowerPoint via the PowerPoint CD interface. For more information about downloading Apache OpenOffice, see How do I view Presentations for PowerPoint on a Mac if I do not have Microsoft Office for Mac?
For PPS files (G-W CD versions 4.0 or earlier), select the desired content from the CD's homepage. The file will open in Apache OpenOffice. Select View, then select View Slide Show from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen.
For PPT files (G-W CD versions 4.0 or earlier), navigate to the editable PPT files on the root of the CD by selecting the Access Editable PPT Files button on the left-hand navigation of the CD interface. Double-click on any file to open in Apache OpenOffice. To view the slide show, select View, then select View Slide Show from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen.
PPSX files (G-W CD version 5.0 or later) are not supported by Apache OpenOffice. However, the PPTX files are.
For version 5.0 CDs: navigate to the editable PPTX files on the root of the CD by selecting the Access Editable PPTX Files button on the left-hand navigation of the CD interface. Double-click on any PPTX file to open in Apache OpenOffice. To view the slide show, select View, then select View Slide Show from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen.
For version 6.0 CDs: select the desired chapter link from the HTML interface to access the presentation files for that chapter. Double-click on the PPTX file to open in Apache OpenOffice. To view the slide show, select View, then select View Slide Show from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen.
