The state textbook adoption process provides for the continuous review and purchase of new
instructional materials. Adoption states choose at the state level what textbooks can
be used by all school districts. This process was established to provide quality materials
to school at a guarenteed price and to provide equal access to those materials for all
student in adoption states. Each adoption state has their own set of rules and procedures
that govern the process, but the end result is the same: Quality textbooks that meet their
state curriculum.
