The world has certainly changed in the past 100 years. With roots that began in 1921 with Dyke's Automobile and Gasoline Engine Encyclopedia, G-W first expanded its publishing into the trades. As inventions, innovations, and technologies were introduced over the years, these advancements impacted education and the direction of G-W. Our path into Family and Consumer Sciences started in the 1980s and broadened to other developing fields such as IT, Health Sciences, and Health Education. New courses, new pathways, and new careers demand new learning resources that reflect our ever-changing times. As the world evolves, so does G-W.

As G-W reaches this 100-year milestone, we are very thankful.

  • Thankful for the amazing teachers and dedicated industry partners who are committed to preparing students for success in life and career.

  • Thankful for students who are eager to learn and inspire an entire education industry to continuously adapt and improve.

  • Thankful for our trusted authors and knowledgeable reviewers who help us provide the highest quality content for students and educators.

  • Thankful for our G-W team, a group of employee-owners who work to exceed your expectations each and every day.

The relationships that we have developed and nurtured over the years are the most meaningful part of our 100-year anniversary. If you have a G-W story or photo—recent or “vintage”—let us know! Whether it was a memorable time at a trade show, a remarkable encounter with a G-W employee, or something else that stood out to you, send it to us at 100@g-w.com. As we celebrate through the year, we will highlight these special moments on social media.

For 100 years, there have been heroes in the classroom—those who continually go above and beyond, innovating, sharing, and helping students find their futures. Who is a hero in your eyes? NOMINATE A HERO

One thing that we have learned over the past 100 years is that education changes lives—and that’s something to celebrate!

CTE increases graduation rates, helps students find their passion, and builds careers. Health Education transforms students by helping them develop healthy behaviors and effective coping strategies that last a lifetime.

We want to hear from you, so that we can celebrate with you! Do you have a story to share—a success story, a life-changing story, or even a funny CTE or Health story? We’d love to hear it!
